DPW Podcast #182: What Really Happens When You Enter The Slush Pile

Meet
Our Hosts

Caleb James K.

Caleb James K. is the former Editor-in-Chief of the literary journal, Drunken Pen Writing, and the host of the DPW Podcast. He’s also a fiction writer, poet, and aspiring novelist.

Spencer Church

A former aspiring comic book artist, Spencer is the cohost of the DPW Podcast as well as a short story writer and avid reader.

We start with an extra “cold” cold open as Caleb talks about his recent illness and working in frigid temperatures.

After that, we read an AMA from the Editor-In-Chief of Story Magazine and learn about their submission reading practices. We discuss how different publications handle submissions, what we think is fair, and what is absolute garbage. Overall, this is a really informative episode.

DBS #135: Ranting And Raving Writers Drunken Pen Writing Podcast

Today's cold open ended up taking over the entire episode. What began as a rant against writers using AI to create their novels transforms into a bitch-fest about the state of the US, the outrageous cost of living, and the greedy bastards who are destroying everything for everyone.  You can follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter @dpwpodcast You can check out Caleb's work at http://www.calebjamesk.com.
