Meet
Our Hosts

Caleb James K.
Caleb James K. is the former Editor-in-Chief of the literary journal, Drunken Pen Writing, and the host of the DPW Podcast. He’s also a fiction writer, poet, and aspiring novelist.

Spencer Church
A former aspiring comic book artist, Spencer is the cohost of the DPW Podcast as well as a short story writer and avid reader.
We start with an extra “cold” cold open as Caleb talks about his recent illness and working in frigid temperatures.
After that, we read an AMA from the Editor-In-Chief of Story Magazine and learn about their submission reading practices. We discuss how different publications handle submissions, what we think is fair, and what is absolute garbage. Overall, this is a really informative episode.
#219: Books We Want To See Turned Into Movies – Drunken Pen Writing Podcast
The government has decided to pay us not to work and instead focus on our art! Or at least that's the scenario we discuss in today's cold open. What would you do with your free time if you received a universal basic income and no longer had to work a day job?
After that, and on the back of Andy Weir's hit book turned movie, Project Hail Mary, we learn about plans for a new sci-fi flick adapted from a popular book series. This leads us to a conversation about what books, sci-fi and others, that we would like to see adapted into a movie or TV series.
