Published in The Sirens Call: Issue 65

My story “Undying Island” has been published in The Sirens Call #65, which you can read for free! Below is the official promo and an excerpt from the story.

I originally began writing Undying Island (at the time it was titled The Undying Island) for an anthology that was looking for cult stories. I had started and stopped a few stories related to the theme, and for whatever reason, I just couldn’t get into it. When I finally began writing this story, my focus had shifted off of the cult theme and moved onto the language itself.

Undying Island is set in the same universe as my story Bog Hag (published in HorrorScope Volume 4) and is written in a similar style. The difference being, while Bog Hag is written in a lyrical prose fantasy style, Undying Island amps things up and becomes what I feel is its own genre.

With a Celtic fantasy backdrop, the story flows with a specific rhythm using a lot of alliteration, pacing beats, and even comes off as song-like at times. Basically, I wrote a story in a style I’ve never read but always wanted to. So far, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and the main comment I’ve gotten has been about how unique and well the story is written. That’s a win in my book!
